SkillSprout Privacy Policy

SkillSprout is a family task management app designed for parents and children. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your choices around it.

What we collect

• Account data you enter directly: your name, your child’s name and age, profile photo (optional).
• Task data you create: task names, notes, schedules, completion records, rewards, photo proof.
• Pet / streak progress generated by normal use of the app.

SkillSprout does not collect third-party advertising IDs and does not use location services. The app embeds one third-party SDK — see “Third-party services” below.

Where data is stored

• Locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData.
• In your iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit public database, container iCloud.com.fatoctopusapps.SkillSprout, so multiple family devices can stay in sync. Data remains under Apple’s privacy terms and is never transmitted to Fat Octopus Apps servers.

Photos captured for task proof have all metadata (EXIF, GPS, camera model, capture time) stripped before upload.

Children’s privacy (COPPA)

SkillSprout is designed to be used by children under parental supervision. Parents create child profiles and control what data is entered. SkillSprout does not knowingly collect any data from children without parental involvement. Parents can delete a child profile at any time from the Profile screen, which removes the child’s records from both the device and iCloud.

Third-party services

SkillSprout uses Superwall (Superwall, Inc., superwall.com) to manage and A/B test the subscription paywall shown to parents. Superwall receives:

• Anonymous interaction data: paywall impressions, button taps, the paywall variant a user saw, and the outcome (purchase / dismiss).
• Purchase metadata: subscription product ID, price, currency, and whether a free-trial was started.
• An anonymous device identifier generated by the Superwall SDK so a single user sees the same A/B test variant across paywall views.
• Standard device/diagnostic data: iOS version, device model, app version, anonymous crash and performance telemetry.

Superwall does not receive:

• Your name, your child’s name or age, your email address, or any contact details.
• Task content, notes, photos, or any data from your child profiles, pets, streaks, or career selections.
• Your Apple ID, iCloud user identifier, or the IDFA (advertising identifier).

Superwall does not use this data for cross-app advertising. See Superwall’s own privacy policy at superwall.com/privacy for further detail.

Subscription purchases themselves are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. SkillSprout / Fat Octopus Apps never receives or stores your payment information.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

• View all data stored in the app through its normal UI.
• Delete a child profile to remove all associated records.
• Sign out and clear local state from the Profile screen.
• Request export or full deletion of your data by emailing the address below.
